Contractor presents three energy-project options, highlights roughly $600,000 IRA incentive

Rick Anderson of Veragees told the Jefferson County commissioners that his firm has prepared three options for energy conservation and facility upgrades, including a version focused only on jail systems and a broader package covering lighting, HVAC and controls. "You're gonna see the IRA benefit, which is $600,000 and some change," Anderson said, describing the federal incentive as a material offset if the county advances the work promptly.

Anderson framed the largest package as the "optimum savings project" with the quickest payback and cited a prior $15 million geothermal project at Saint Minor Arch Abbey as evidence the federal incentive is real. He suggested the county could choose how to apply the IRA funds and offered to provide cash-flow analyses and a separate work session for commissioners to review the options before presenting to council. Commissioners did not take a formal vote on the energy proposals at the meeting.
