An agency official briefed the board on recent disaster-response activity and grant status. The official said the county partnered with Trumbull County to receive five FEMA temporary-housing trailers that are available for storm response and described recent joint damage assessments with FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration. "We got 5, basically, camper trailers to use for temporary housing," the speaker said, noting the trailers are staged in Hanover and available if needed.
The speaker also said Jefferson County has a state disaster declaration but that federal participation depends on aggregated statewide damage thresholds; the official characterized the process as slow and urged patience. Separately, the speaker reported the county was denied the 2026 State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) grant and that there is no update yet on the 2025 SHSP award. Commissioners received the report; no action was taken at the meeting.
