Abby's House roof replacement, foundation repointing approved as non-applicable to commission

Justin Bartanian, senior director of housing at Abby's House, described CPA-funded work at 77 Chatham Street that includes replacing slate roofing in kind, repointing brick foundations and repainting trim. Bartanian said the plans keep the roof pattern and slate color consistent with existing historic character and that he will deliver physical samples to the city office for review.

Commission members praised the color choice and voted to approve a certificate of non-applicability, concluding the proposed in-kind repairs and repainting are not under the commission's jurisdiction. Bartanian said he will share architectural layouts and material samples with staff as the project proceeds through other regulatory reviews.
