Regional Office of Education explains licensure deadlines and new ISBE accountability 'profiles of performance'

Assistant Regional Superintendent Katie Algram told the committee that educator licensure renewal opens April 1, statutory expiration is June 30, and ISBE allows a two-month grace period through Aug. 31; licenses become lapsed on Sept. 1 if not renewed. "Any educator that has any questions about renewal, they're directed to the regional office," she said, noting the ROE has two licensure specialists to help local educators meet requirements.

Algram outlined administrator-academy obligations and a new statewide accountability framework from the Illinois State Board of Education that introduces "profiles of performance" combining proficiency, growth and (for high schools) graduation rate plus elevating indicators such as EL progress, attendance and climate survey measures. She said the State Board will release scores in October (effectively late October/Nov. 1) and that the ROE is providing free sessions and an accountability series to help schools create improvement plans.
