The Salem High School Building Committee received a milestone and schedule update on July 23, with project staff saying the team is planning roughly a year and a half of design and bidding followed by about 30 months of construction aimed at an opening in fall 2030. Margaret (project lead) told the committee the team has scheduled a kickoff with the MSBA‑assigned commissioning agent in early August to begin systems verification.
Margaret emphasized ongoing coordination across owner, architect and contractor teams and summarized current priorities: prescreening by design working groups, a hazmat investigation under the existing slabs that could affect costs, and continued academic, security and traffic reviews. "We've got, about a year and 0.5 of design and bidding and then 30 months of construction headed for, an opening in the fall of 20 30 for the new building," Margaret said. The committee was asked to expect regular design working‑group briefings and to review deliverables as the project moves through design development.
