Veterans Assistance Commission reports $5.5M in new benefits, applies for Illinois accreditation

The Veterans Assistance Commission representative reported that the office's pages in the packet (58'60) show claims and inventory in expected ranges and that through May the office had awarded over $5,500,000 in new benefits to Kane County veterans. The representative said they have submitted an application for accreditation to the Illinois Association of County Veterans Assistance Commissions and hope to be in the first cohort to receive that accreditation.

Committee members asked whether the Illinois accreditation is a recurring process and praised the office's staff for hands-on, personalized service. The representative said the Illinois accreditation program is new this year and that the VA accreditation required to operate remains in place.
