East Aurora hiring event today seeks special-education teacher aides at $22/hour

Miss Lewis told the committee she chairs the jobs committee and that East Aurora is holding a hiring event that afternoon to hire special-education teacher assistants. "They're hiring special ed teacher assistants... you have to have a high school diploma. It pays $22 an hour," she said, and noted hires would be contingent on passing a background check and processing at the Regional Office of Education.

Lewis asked whether staffing shortages for special-education assistants are countywide; ROE and other committee members said the need exists across districts and encouraged promotion of the opportunity through the county jobs committee and communications channels.
