Local 4‑H ambassador and parent urge Cascade County to keep Extension funding

Two public commenters used the meeting's public‑comment period to ask commissioners to continue funding the Cascade County Extension Office and to support 4‑H programming countywide. Reese Hastings, a Cascade County 4‑H ambassador, said the program provides agricultural training, leadership experience and lifelong skills and urged commissioners to view funding as an investment in the county's future: "When you support the extension office, you're not just simply funding a program. You're investing in the future of Cascade County," (Reese Hastings, speaker 10).

Angie Hastings, a parent and long‑time member of the community, read a letter reiterating support for 4‑H and describing how volunteers and staff have helped young people develop leadership and job skills. Both speakers stressed 4‑H's role in rural communities and asked commissioners to continue to advocate for and fund the program. The chair invited them to follow up in the office but did not debate the comments during the meeting.
