City reports progress on Elkins City Hall renovations; asbestos piece discovered and scheduled for removal

Operations said the project is on track for public use ahead of local events and emphasized efforts to save money where possible.

Operations also reported discovery of a small piece of asbestos in the AV room behind the council chambers; staff have contracted an abatement company and scheduled removal for Wednesday morning, with crews estimating the work should take only a few hours and not delay overall progress. "We did discover 1 more piece of asbestos that needs to be taken out," Operations said, and added the removal will be handled promptly.
