El Paso City and the El Paso Association of Firefighters Local 51 reached an agreement to set three field training officer coordinators per shift, resolving a pending negotiation item from a July 14 session.
"Yes, we're in agreement with the 3 FTO coordinator language," said Jay Nicholson, President of Local 51, after the moderator reintroduced the item and reviewed the proposed red-line language. City staff confirmed they would incorporate that text into the draft agreement and send copies to the union for confirmation.
The agreement was presented as part of a bundle of pending items the parties reviewed; negotiators said they will circulate updated red-line documents and confirm counts and language before finalizing the contract sections. No formal vote was recorded; participants characterized the exchange as reaching consensus on that specific staffing language.
