Negotiators agreed to language establishing a medical wellness advisory committee that would recommend best practices for annual physicals, maintain minutes of all committee meetings and provide an annual report to the fire chief and to the union.
The moderator described the committee as consisting of nine members with a minimum quorum of five. "That'll include the annual kickback up so we can follow," the moderator said while explaining the role of reference materials and how the committee would develop recommendations for fiscal implementation. Union leaders asked whether previously referenced guidance (recorded in the transcript as "NFP of 15 82") would be adopted or only used as a guiding document; city staff confirmed reference materials may be used for committee recommendations but would not be formally adopted into the contract.
City and union negotiators also discussed the committee's role in identifying how recommended practices would be funded, with staff noting fiscal pathways would be a committee task and included in monthly reports to the fire chief and the association.
