Board OKs DPI-driven increase to school lunch fees

Matt told the board the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction notified the district to increase lunch fees this year. He recommended the smallest increase that meets DPI’s calculation to minimize family impact and confirmed the district’s free and reduced-price lunch program will continue to apply to eligible students.

A board member asked whether the change accounts for families struggling to pay; Matt confirmed the district accounts for free and reduced lunch eligibility in the calculation. The board approved the ordinance amendment by voice vote.

The change is administrative and based on DPI’s fee calculator; officials said increases are intended to maintain program compliance and fiscal stability for the school nutrition program.
