Walworth County authorizes applications for two supplemental behavioral-health grants (about $80,000)

Walworth County's Health and Human Services board authorized staff to apply for two supplemental behavioral-health grants aimed at substance-use prevention/treatment and community mental-health services.

A staff member explained the county already receives base awards but must seek committee approval to accept supplemental awards that were not on the preapproved grant list; staff said the county is eligible for roughly $80,000 in supplemental funds and no additional local match or maintenance requirement applies. After questions about program set-asides for primary prevention and female-focused services, the board moved and voted to approve applying for and accepting the supplemental awards if awarded.

Staff said the supplemental funds would offset costs in behavioral-health areas such as respite care and out-of-home care and that timely application (due July 17) had been submitted with preliminary authorization from administration.
