Board approves $149,829.86 radio contract and $31,495.02 alarm upgrade; seeks permit-fee waiver

The Town of Litchfield had budgeted $150,000 for 2026–27 capital costs for townwide radios. A bid of $149,829.86 from Goosetown Communications (Guilford) for radios serving five departments was within the budget and the board voted unanimously to award the contract.

The board also approved a $31,495.02 bid from Berkshire Alarm of Litchfield to replace the current conventional fire alarm with a nonproprietary addressable system. The town will cover $30,000 of the cost under capital, and the Board of Fire Commissioners & EMS will pay the additional $1,495.02. A commissioner will attend the next Board of Selectmen meeting to request a waiver of the $330 building-permit fee required for the alarm installation. The board also approved a Zeller Tire quote of $15,997.52 to replace tires on apparatus E4 and L1.
