Walworth County staff updated the Finance Committee on the county-owned tax properties list and the planned sale process. Staff said one parcel was removed from the list because a prior owner qualified and repurchased by paying taxes, interest and penalties, and another parcel was removed because of a bankruptcy notice. The remaining parcels require committee approval of appraised minimum bids to proceed to a sealed-bid sale scheduled for Aug. 25.
"The 1st sale...is a sealed bid and scheduled for August 25," staff said, and told the committee they will report back at the September finance meeting with results and whether parcels qualified as winning bids; unsold parcels will be listed on Wisconsin Surplus thereafter. Staff explained the initial minimum is the appraised value determined by the formula in the packet and that adjacent owners often purchase smaller parcels in these sales.
