Friends of the Libby chair resigns, new Libby Museum Preservation Society seeks successor role

During the Libby Trustees portion of the July 15 meeting, Suzanne Ryan read a resignation letter saying she could no longer serve as chair of the Friends of the Libby because the organization was moving away from strict adherence to Dr. Libby's will and the Friends' bylaws.

In her statement Ryan described the newly formed Libby Museum Preservation Society, which she said aims to raise funds to restore or replicate the building and operate a Libby Museum Discovery Center. She asked that the society be included in future correspondence and discussions with other groups. Sebastian Tordonato, vice chair of the Libby Museum Preservation Society, questioned whether proposals from the Lake Winnipesaukee Alliance to house water testing and Libby exhibits at the museum site would adhere to the will.

Trustees discussed appraisal logistics and storage of items identified by the appraiser; no final decision about a successor trustee or the museum's long-term location was made at the meeting.
