Selectmen review draft Right-to-Know (RSA 91-A) procedure to standardize records requests

The Selectmen reviewed a proposed Right-to-Know (RSA 91-A) request procedure intended to standardize how the town receives, logs and responds to public records requests.

Amy Capone Muccio, the town executive assistant, said the town lacks an organized process and recommended adopting a form and log that would aim to provide an initial acknowledgement in five days and a response within 30 days when requests are complex. She said police and fire departments would keep their existing forms. "Town does not have one ' no organized process to record, track them, have a follow-up, make sure they were answered," Capone Muccio said. Board members asked whether the policy would set fees and what penalties, if any, would apply for missed deadlines. The Selectmen asked to review the draft further and provide comments to staff before future action.
