Council raises Naples News article and a forfeiture complaint tied to ballpark work; staff says complaint provided

During an off-agenda exchange a councilmember raised a Naples Daily News article about a contractor tied to ballpark work and said the council needed more information. The mayor asked whether the topic was on the agenda; the councilmember acknowledged it was not but said the matter required attention.

A staff member told the council he had provided a copy of a forfeiture complaint and that staff had an internal meeting scheduled later that day to discuss next steps. "I provided the copy of the complaint, and ... we're still trying to get information and, we'll keep you posted," the staff member said. Council discussion focused on obtaining more information and staff agreed to report back.

Because the topic was not on the published agenda, council members noted the limits on in-meeting deliberation; staff said it would follow up separately and inform the council of next steps.
