Residents press Escambia commissioners on surveillance contracts, NDAs and county transparency

During the public forum, residents repeatedly raised alarm about public‑safety and privacy risks from surveillance programs (often cited as "Flock"), calling for ordinance action and transparency in contracts. Nicole Linderman asked whether any staff or commissioners had discussed contracts or intents with vendors Axiom or Motorola; she said the county was building a searchable database of movements without informed consent.

"I do not consent to the warrantless tracking of my movements," Nicole Linderman said, citing the U.S. Constitution. Brandy Johnson and other advocates asked the board to adopt a transparency clause requiring any use of county land, incentives or taxpayer dollars to be posted online and opened with public notice before contracts are finalized. The board acknowledged the concerns and directed staff to incorporate public feedback into upcoming items.
