Oklahoma County excise board approves series of year-end transfers and school budget amendments

The Oklahoma County Excise Board on July 22 approved a set of county finance actions and school-district budget adjustments intended to close out the 2025-26 fiscal year.

Chair Eleanor Thompson opened the special meeting and announced the notice had been posted July 21, 2026. The board approved the minutes from July 6 and then considered nine agenda items that county staff described as routine year-end finance measures. "Notice of this meeting was properly posted 07/21/2026," Thompson said at the start of the meeting.

Items approved by voice vote included interfund transfers to employee benefits, temporary appropriations for charter and virtual school districts, and a second amendment to Midfield School District I-52's budget. Board members asked clarifying questions about sources of funds and whether requested amounts were typical; staff repeatedly described several items as routine year-end federal or state reconciliations for school accounts.

Several items required minor corrections in the board packet before being approved. For example, board members and staff corrected a typographic error and confirmed a year-end appropriation for a Petro Public School account as $29,758.88 before voting. On routine items board members largely moved, seconded and approved motions by voice vote without extended debate.

The meeting closed after the board approved the listed items and confirmed scheduling for related excise and assessor reporting in the coming week. The board noted that some items had been approved previously by the budget board and that the excise board's action implemented those appropriations within the county's adopted budget.
