Mayor Zacher praises Riverside Freedom Fest turnout; says leftover funds will support next year's fireworks

Mayor Matt Zacher described the Rapids Riverside Freedom Fest as a community success and thanked organizers, volunteers and sponsors for a strong turnout. "It went great ... I think from there people were able to stick around," he said, noting the event's music, vendors and a flyover added to the atmosphere.

Zacher said organizers will apply lessons for future events: more shade, tents and staging adjustments to help attendees during high heat. He noted modest leftover funds "that'll all stay in place for next year's fireworks and events that we do," and said the city will debrief and start planning early to improve logistics while balancing costs.

The mayor singled out Parks staff, volunteers, Friends of Rapids Music and vendors for their roles in making the event possible. No financial breakdown was produced during the conversation; the mayor said remaining funds will be earmarked for next year's community programming.
