Committee approves commercial rooftop solar installation; applicant told to sign paperwork

The Orleans Solar Review Committee voted to approve a commercial rooftop solar installation during its July 24 meeting after a presentation from the applicant. Joshua, representing My Generation Energy, told the committee the array “pretty much covers the roof” but is not visible from the street because of a parapet and rooftop fencing; the motion to approve passed with committee support.

The committee heard that the system will connect to the grid and is being submitted by the building owner; S3 moved to approve the project “as submitted” and S2 seconded the motion. After the vote S1 told Joshua he should come to the office to sign the paperwork the following day to complete permitting steps. The committee did not record any conditions or amendments to the approval during the meeting.

"That's the gist of it," Joshua said when asked whether the panels would be visible from the street. Committee members emphasized practicalities of inspection and post-approval paperwork; the applicant was instructed to complete signatures at the municipal office to finalize the project record.
