Rich Vargo, Riley County Clerk, reminded the commission and public that the primary election will be held Aug. 4 and that advance in‑person voting runs July 15–31 with weekday hours (7:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; Fridays 7:30 a.m.–noon) and one Saturday (Aug. 1, 8 a.m.–noon). He said, as of the close of business on the prior Friday, 302 residents had participated in advance voting and that number will have increased by the time of the meeting.
Vargo also explained a court‑ordered change to the mail‑ballot return deadline: ballots postmarked on or before election day and received by the close of business on the Friday after the election will be counted. He encouraged voters to observe the posted advanced‑voting schedule and noted that by state law counties close advance voting the Monday before the election at noon.
