Planning commission approves design review for Idaho Pizza at 962 Bozak Street

The Middleton Planning and Zoning Commission approved a design review for an Idaho Pizza restaurant proposed for 962 Bozak Street, voting unanimously to adopt staff-recommended conditions. Applicant Aaron Randall of JGTI Architecture described the building as "about 5,800 square feet" that "will seat somewhere in 150 diners," and said the design follows an established prototype.

Staff told commissioners the property is zoned M1 (light industrial), which allows restaurants, and recommended five conditions to protect circulation, pedestrian access, and utilities. The conditions include: a recorded cross-access easement with the adjacent lot at 910 Bozeman Street before building permit issuance; a paved ADA-compliant connection to the 10-foot-wide asphalt pathway along Highway 44; parking stalls of at least 9 by 21 feet and 22-foot drive aisles; a pre-construction meeting with building official, planning staff, and the city engineer; and a prohibition on city-metered water for landscape irrigation.

Commissioner Gregory moved to approve the design review and Commissioner Gibson seconded; the motion carried unanimously. The commission recorded the approval and asked staff and the applicant to provide the easement instrument and to coordinate the ADA connection prior to permit release.
