Police Chief Hess opened a recognition ceremony to promote six officers and thanked family members and the community for their support. "It's always a joy to recognize our new leadership in the department," Chief Hess said as he introduced the promotions and asked officers to come forward for the public oath.
The council honored Jared Davis (promoted to sergeant, criminal investigations), Brandon Knob (promoted to sergeant over the traffic safety unit, effective July 23), Caleb Clayton (promoted to corporal, patrol division), Tony Dixon (promoted to corporal, patrol), Aaron Tendle (promoted to corporal, patrol) and Brandon Ward (promoted to corporal, canine unit). Chief Hess summarized each officer's prior service and notable training certificates. Clerk Linda Clayton administered the oath and asked officers to sign their records before leaving the dais. Council recessed briefly afterward to allow families to take photographs.
