Market One reports nine CDBG applications so far; inspections and RFP for home inspectors coming

Molly from Market One briefed council on the status of South Haven's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. She said nine applications have been received to date against roughly 20 available slots and staff are verifying income eligibility before scheduling initial property inspections.

“Right now we'll be contracting out inspectors — we plan to post an RFP and hope to have inspections started by the end of August once an inspector is contracted,” Molly said. She added that the program typically receives many more inquiries in the fall and winter as homeowners notice needs and that common scopes so far include roofs, windows and accessibility improvements (ramps, walk‑in showers) aimed at enabling aging in place.

Molly said the administrative portion of the grant has been approved and drawn; the construction portion is pending formal release after final environmental review and clarification of Build America/Buy America applicability. Council members asked for income‑limit charts and program outreach plans; staff said they will circulate eligibility thresholds and maintain a waitlist for future application rounds.
