Consultant outlines "ten pillars" approach as steering committee set for July 30

Brandon Hill of the Mannequin Smith Group briefed council on progress drafting the village comprehensive plan, which he said is designed to be "usable" and actionable rather than a text‑heavy document. Hill said MSG had held a business‑owner roundtable, conducted more than a dozen stakeholder interviews and received about 48 online survey responses to date.

Hill showed a draft table of contents and an example pillar on housing and "complete neighborhoods," noting the village's recent growth pattern of detached single‑family subdivisions around a historic core and a gap in "missing middle" housing types. He said the steering committee's first meeting is scheduled for July 30 and that draft pillar language will return to council after steering‑committee review. Council members said a public, easily accessible plan would help developers and volunteer planning commissioners understand community expectations before development proposals arrive.

Hill asked for feedback on pillar content and presentation; councilors commended the approach and asked staff to publicly post draft materials so developers can align proposals with community goals.
