Director Kelly reported that election material disposal was conducted June 24 under the supervision of a bipartisan team of board members and that the office intends to contract with a shredder company for future disposal, retaining chain-of-custody procedures and bipartisan witnessing.
"We will follow all of the same procedures that we have where there'll be a document, it'll be listed, and a bipartisan team of board members can come and witness so that there's a complete chain of custody from leaving our office to being destroyed," Kelly said. The board thanked Karen and Sandy for attending the June disposal event.
Kelly also reviewed staff training: district director virtual training covered list maintenance, and staff will attend the North Carolina State Board of Elections summer conference Aug. 9–11 and a Printelect Electionware training on Aug. 14 that will cover Electionware, ballot-on-demand, Express Vote printers and a new ballot design feature.
