The Winchester Park Board approved a request from resident organizer Carrie Martin to host a motorcycle benefit at Goodrich Park on Sept. 19, the board decided during its July meeting. Martin told the board she expects about 150 motorcycles, hopes to stage a bike show with prizes, and plans to include food trucks and vendor booths.
“We're going to try to get with some other organizations to help with the 50/50 and stuff like that,” Martin said, adding that she would secure insurance and coordinate with local law enforcement for a county‑wide route. She emphasized that there would be no alcohol at the event: “No alcohol. Absolutely no alcohol.”
Board members discussed logistics including which shelter house to reserve and potential conflicts with Little League tournaments. After confirming Shelter House 3 was available, a board member moved and the board voted to block that shelter and set Sept. 19 as the date. The board asked Martin to provide proof of liability insurance before final confirmation.
Why it matters: The event will draw visitors and vendors to Goodrich Park and will require coordination with the sheriff's office and town chiefs for escorts and route safety. The board noted that shelter assignments and field availability must be double‑checked with staff and with any existing tournament bookings before the final permit is issued.
