Board members discussed park maintenance needs and expressed strong safety concerns about hosting an adult 'mushball' tournament on a Little League diamond that was designed for youth play. A member argued the diamond’s small dimensions, exposed holes and wires and missing netting or fencing make it inappropriate for large adult competitions this season.
“It’s a terrible idea to use that diamond,” a member said, citing safety and the risk of damage; other members raised the same concerns and suggested postponing any adult tournament until required repairs and netting are installed. The board emphasized the park is not ready for Labor Day with outstanding infrastructure work.
Separately, the board received a status update that anchor bolts for high beams and lights were scheduled to be installed next Thursday, and members noted lighting is needed for upcoming concerts and holiday events. Staff will track the installation timeline and report back to the board before Labor Day events are finalized.
