Board approves removing truck‑route sign from Madison Avenue to protect narrow residential street

Tim Fiser, speaking for homeowners Michael and Rhonda Celich, asked the board to remove a truck‑route arrow directing heavy trucks onto Madison Avenue and redirect them to Clay Street to reduce truck traffic on a narrow residential street. "I have been asked by Michael and Rhonda Celig who own two homes on Madison Avenue... to see about getting trucks from using [Madison]," Fiser said, noting trucks access the area from an industrial park.

Traffic department staff (Todd) told the board there is no objection to removing the truck‑route designation and noted Madison is “barely 23 ft wide.” Todd also said the city can request updates to commercial GPS routing to discourage semis from using Madison, but those changes can take about six weeks to appear in mapping services. The board moved to remove the truck‑route signage from Madison and direct trucks to Clay Street; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
