Water department reports line repairs, lead-and-copper sampling and aid to neighboring plant

At the July 20 Ashville Village Council meeting, the village water representative summarized routine operations and short-term repairs carried out in June.

"During the month, the utility department placed three curve boxes, replaced water service line, the entire line underneath Hawthorne Drive," said Jimbo while reporting the department's monthly activities. He also said the plant is troubleshooting communications between towers and well connections and that parts for an antenna and wire connection have been ordered. Jimbo told council the village helped South Bloomfield by supplying water when that neighboring plant was down.

The report noted compliance work on federally required sampling: lead-and-copper sampling is underway and "should finish up ... next week," Jimbo said. The meeting also included a readout of the wastewater report: according to Greg's report provided to the council, "Our average daily flow last month was 339 or 399,000 gallons a day, which is about capacity of the wastewater plant," and flows rise substantially during rain events. Council members asked clarifying questions about construction start dates and sequencing for a local housing project, and staff said they expect new home sales lots to be ready for marketing in August or September.

Council did not take action on the water report; it was received for the record.
