Council approves $37,361 from impact fees to finish Westside Park

Council voted to authorize the use of $37,361 in impact-fee funds to finalize work at Westside Park.

A council member moved to authorize the expenditure to reimburse contractors and pay for finishing tasks; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Council discussion described expected uses including additional mulch (minimum 8 inches in places), perimeter dirt and grass work, and lighting to make the park usable at night. The mayor said the goal is to open the park "by the end of the month."

Council members also discussed longer-term plans for a permanent restroom and asked the parks committee to develop recommendations and cost estimates. The funding will come from impact fees the village holds for that service area; council members noted these funds must be used for defined purposes and typically must be spent within a statutory time window or returned.
