Board approves police academy enrollment for one new hire at $6,768

The City of Lorain Board of Control on July 8 approved the Lorain Police Department’s request to enroll one new hire in the Lake County Community College police academy at a cost of $6,768, to be paid from the Levy Education account. Mayor Jack Bradley moved to approve the request and Safety/Service Director Rey Carrion seconded; the roll call recorded both as voting aye and the motion carried unanimously.

Meeting notes state the academy requires about 900 hours of instruction before completion and that openings are limited. The discussion recorded that missing a class would require the student to arrange instructor time to make up missed content. The action was recorded by the Board clerk and closed without further conditions.
