At the information session, Mark Anderson, representing a neighborhood group, asked for written answers to several questions about the 2024 bond voters approved for Paraty Park repairs and improvements. Anderson asked where in the 2024 bond materials voters were told a new, larger building in a different location might be built, how much of the $20 million has been borrowed and how the bulkhead can proceed independently if the building is redesigned.
Harbormaster Steve Land replied that the city is under contract for the bulkhead and docks and for architecture and engineering services and said the bulkhead bid came in at about $7.02 million with a $600,000 contingency. Residents pressed for transparency and for technical studies such as programmatic analyses and visual impact studies before irreversible design decisions are made.
