Residential rehabilitation application for 614 N. Edward qualifies for 90% assistance; total project $5,000

City staff summarized a residential rehabilitation application for 614 North Edward Street submitted by Rnado and Melissa Sterling and said the application was forwarded from the Community Development Committee with a recommendation.

Scott (staff) explained the program uses a sliding scale keyed to the equalized assessed value (EAV) of the property and that properties with EAV under 16,667 qualify for up to 90% assistance. He said the resolution lists the property's EAV as 16,330, which qualifies the applicant for the 90% tier. "So, that gets us to the 90% that the city will pay out of our TIF dollars," Scott said. Eligible work for this application included gutter work and tree trimming and the total project amount presented was $5,000.

Councilmembers discussed outreach to increase participation in the program and asked staff to publicize the opportunity; the council placed the resolution for consideration and action at next week's council meeting.
