Council awards H City Park construction contract to Burket Construction at $1.345 million

The Ogden City Council on July 24 approved plans and accepted the low bid for the H City Park project, awarding the contract to Burket Construction of Dodto for $1,345,000.

City staff told the council they received six bids, with the highest bid from Jensen Builders at $1,782,000 and the low bid from Burket Construction. "We received six bids. The highest was Jensen Builders for $1,782,000 and the lowest was Burket Construction out of Dodto for $1,345,000," the project manager reported, and the council moved to accept the recommendation. The council passed Resolution 202607-611 to approve plans and specifications and Resolution 202607-612 to accept the bid and award the contract.

The project scope includes demolition of existing baseball fields and structures, construction of two new grass baseball fields with dugouts, lighting and fencing, paved and gravel parking areas, ADA-accessible pathways, a new playground with poured rubber surfacing, drainage work and upgraded electrical infrastructure to support current needs and future expansion. Staff said demolition work would begin after the local T-ball season ends and that demolition was targeted to begin around Aug. 5; adjacent property owners will receive notices about alley access and traffic impacts.

Council members and staff emphasized that bid checks and contractor references were completed. The project manager said they were pleased the low bid came in under expectations and that the bid-check process returned favorable responses about the recommended contractor. The council carried the motion to award the contract.
