Dustin Miller and Courtney of the Pampa Chamber of Commerce briefed the commission on the fifth annual Pampa Hometown Independence Day celebration, thanking volunteers, sponsors and city crews for their role in the event. Miller described weather that briefly disrupted the park activities but said the crowd returned and the evening ended with a fireworks show; "we probably had probably as large a crowd as we've ever had at that time of night," he said.
Courtney listed sponsors and funding details: "Google underwrote the entire event this year" and Hunting contributed around $7,500 toward the fireworks; the presenter said Google covered an $8,000 portion of the fireworks budget. She said early attendance figures showed "over 10,000 people celebrating in Pampa," and that the event had its largest parade, most vendor participation, and the largest 5K field (about 135 signups). Organizers requested continued partnership with the city for planning next year's event, which falls on a Sunday the following year.
