Commission approves first reading for crosswalk at Pampa Regional Medical Center

The commission approved on first reading Ordinance 1840 to create an official crosswalk at Pampa Regional Medical Center on 30th Avenue, describing the step as necessary to permit painting, signage and enforcement. Luke Greer told commissioners the hospital has installed sidewalks and ramps already and the ordinance is the final step to make the crossing enforceable: "At that point... we can then paint it, put up signs, and then it becomes a legitimate crosswalk."

Staff estimated costs would be limited to paint and signage (roughly $120–$200) and said traffic speed limits would remain unchanged. The measure passed on first reading and will return for the second reading and implementation steps.
