The Audubon Public School District presented a new bell‑to‑bell policy for the high school that would require students to keep internet‑enabled devices off and stored in backpacks or Chromebook bags from the start to the end of the school day. "They are off and away and in a backpack or Chromebook bag. They cannot be in a pocket. They cannot be in a hoodie," Superintendent Miss Allen told the board while explaining implementation plans.
Administrators noted exceptions for documented needs under IEP/504 plans or medical circumstances and said families should contact the main office for emergency messages. The district also said field trips would be handled on a case‑by‑case basis, allowing supervised, limited device access when safety or documentation needs make it appropriate. School leaders plan specific procedures for students who do not carry backpacks.
