Council approves $105,572 to finish Oak Park Boulevard complete‑streets study with Kimley‑Horn

The Pleasant Hill City Council approved an appropriation of $105,572.77 in bicycle and pedestrian funds and a contract amendment with Kimley‑Horn to complete a comprehensive study of Oak Park Boulevard between Pleasant Hill Road and Patterson.

Public works staff explained the Oak Park corridor was identified in the city’s bike and pedestrian master plan and that about 30% of the corridor work was already completed as part of the Safe Streets for All program. "Thirty percent of the corridor study has already been completed as part of the SS4A, including public input, traffic safety data and traffic counts," Ann James said, adding that the change order avoids duplicative outreach and accelerates concept drawings so the city can pursue grant funding. Council members asked why Oak Park was not on the high‑injury network; staff said the HIN selection required crash data showing severe collisions, which that segment did not meet, but the city will still pursue concept work and additional local outreach to support safety and grant applications.
