Project architect John Crestaia told the commission the proposed classroom addition is intended as a multipurpose room that can be subdivided for children's classes and to address current space shortages: "The idea is to create a room where they can subdivide... it's a multipurpose room... primarily, it's to house the kids because... we're running out of space." Assistant Pastor Eddie Anderson said the church has seen growth in families and that the addition would accommodate existing needs rather than solely respond to membership growth: "We've seen a lot of families... a lot more kids... it's to address the current needs that we have."
Staff also reminded the commission of the site's permitting history: an original building permit for a warehouse in 1991 and a tenant improvement in 1998 that changed use to a church and classrooms, making the current church a legal nonconforming use that requires a CUP for expansion.
