Council confirms Luke Poor as Jacksonville commander of investigations

The Jacksonville City Council on a unanimous voice vote confirmed Luke Poor as the city’s commander of investigations. Chief Douglas Thompson told the council Poor has been with the agency since December 2010 and has worked as an investigator for five years.

Thompson described Poor’s path to the promotion, saying Poor “bet on himself” by accepting a sergeant promotion, returning to street duty and proving he was ready for higher responsibility. Poor’s family — his wife Sarah and daughters Charlie and Ava — were in the meeting room for the recognition.
