Supervisors approve property sales, tax exemption and hear proposal for pickleball complex

The Harrison County Board of Supervisors concurred with the Harrison County Development Commission that F.L. Crane & Sons Inc. fulfilled requirements for a five-year ad valorem tax exemption under state code. The board also approved the sale of approximately 42.69 acres described in exhibit A and concurred in a bill of sale authorizing a $65,000 sale of equipment to Cajun Equipment (described in the discussion as a rail car mover). Motions on these items were moved, seconded, and approved by voice vote.

Supervisor Powers raised a separate, non-agenda matter, asking the board to consider letting property owners from Biloxi speak about plans to build pickleball courts on Debuys Road as part of a proposed sports complex. "The gentleman and the people who own the property in Biloxi wanted to come speak before the board because we're talking about putting a lot of pickleball courts at the on Debuys Road," Powers told the board; she said she had scheduled a meeting with the interested party and would bring more information to a future session. The board did not take immediate action on the proposed sports complex but signaled willingness to hear the proposal.
