Committee weighs July 4 family Field Day tied to fireworks; recommends early permitting

Committee members discussed holding a family-focused Field Day during July 4 festivities, proposing a 4–6 p.m. window on a secondary field near the parade, vendors and stage so attendees can participate without crowding the main seating area. A committee member said the field where music and fireworks are staged would be a good location if the committee can secure space and avoid interfering with vendors and the fireworks launch area.

The chair emphasized the need for an event permit and lead time for logistics, electricity access and coordination with public works and fire. The chair recommended starting permit planning well in advance — stating, "I would just say 6 to 7 months out is good," though also noting an application could be filed in 2–3 months in some cases. No permit or final site was set in the meeting.
