The Danbury City Council voted on July 23 to accept the Committee of the Whole recommendations on proposed charter changes and to transmit those recommendations to the Charter Revision Commission for preparation of a final report to the council. Councilman Salvatore moved the motion, asking the council to "transmit to the Charter Revision Commission the approved recommended changes and amendments as voted upon in each chapter and convene a meeting to confer between the two bodies for the final presentation to the City Council."
After discussion about timing and notice, the council took a roll-call vote. The legislative assistant recorded individual members' Yes/Nay responses and the mayor declared the motion carried; the council will now await the commission's return report and may review the final report before preparing ballot questions for voters. Corporation Counsel advised that the process follows statute and that the commission will prepare a final report that returns to the council for review.
