RDA seat left vacant after failed confirmation; Brian Fukuda ineligible for one year

The Redevelopment Authority of the City of La Crosse was told the board currently has a vacancy after a May confirmation did not meet the higher vote threshold required for RDA members.

"So the June meeting was not properly noticed through a new gov delivery system that we have," Andrew said, explaining the process that led the body to restate approval of the May 2026 minutes. He told members that RDA confirmations require a higher approval rate than other committees and that, as a result of the vote tally at the May meeting, Brian Fukuda did not receive the necessary votes to be confirmed.

Andrew said the no vote did not appear to be related personally to Mr. Fukuda but that, by rule, he cannot be renominated or reappointed for one full year. Staff asked members and the public to suggest candidates via the form on the city website so the seat does not remain vacant for 12 months.

The board took no formal action beyond noting the vacancy and encouraging nominations.
