Commissioners flag North Saint Pete School District property-tax impact and public hearing

Commissioners discussed a property-tax impact schedule from the North Saint Pete School District that projects higher property-tax rates for 2026 relative to some neighboring counties. A member announced a public hearing at the high school on Tuesday, August 11 at 6 p.m. and urged residents to attend to learn more about the district's projections.

A commissioner noted that the district's projected increase compared with neighboring counties appeared smaller in percentage terms than some nearby jurisdictions but still represents an increase the public should understand. Members emphasized the commission's role is administrative and said they would simply raise awareness rather than take action on the school district's tax schedule.

"Anyone watching, it's a property tax impact scheduled for the North Saint Pete School District, affecting newer higher tax rates for 2026," one commissioner said as the commission discussed how best to notify residents.
