489 Broadway historic-review application tabled after applicant absence; member asks about enforcement

The Design Review Board temporarily tabled the 489 Broadway application July 22 after the applicant was not present to speak. The item was set to be revisited later in the meeting; staff indicated that a portion of the application (outdoor dining) had already been removed by DPW and that when the applicant returns the board will review only the exterior ledge and stairwell work.

At least one board member raised on-the-record concern that visible work appears to have already been undertaken at the property and asked whether the city should issue a notice of violation since the applicant missed two prior meetings. Staff acknowledged that work has been done and that they will address follow-up; the board noted that enforcement and any violation notices are handled through code enforcement and DPW.

The item was tabled to the next meeting with staff follow-up requested regarding the extent of work already completed and appropriate enforcement steps if necessary.
