Board approves road closure for Sherpa Hill car show, asks bike tour to coordinate routes

The Town Board approved a road-closure request from the Sherpa Hill Community Foundation for a classic car show in Sugarloaf on Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., while asking Best Buddies (a bicycle tour that also passes through the area) to coordinate its route to minimize conflicts.

The chair framed the request as support for a local community event and emphasized deference to a Chester-based organizer: "I would like to pass this road closure request tonight... and then go back to Best Buddies and say, hey, can you work with them or work around them?" The police chief had indicated the department could staff the event without additional overtime by using officers already on duty; organizers and board members discussed volunteer support and minimizing town costs.

The board voted to approve the road closure with the condition that organizers coordinate with the police department and coordinate routes/timing with the bicycle tour to reduce overlapping closures and impacts to through traffic.
